This is beautiful. I've been doing portraits in pastel, but think maybe I should try oil painting. Maybe I could get more and better detail? Anyway, I totally admire YOUR work on this.

Glenn Beasley replied:

Thanks so much Martha. I really appreciate your kind words. Give oils a try. The ability to blend with oils is a lot like pastels, just requires patience for the drying time. The detail for me is easier to achieve with a small brush vs even a pastel pencil or charcoal, but I truly love both mediums. Good look and happy painting!

About Glenn Beasley

Glenn Beasley

****Member of The International Guild of Realism****Member of Arkansas League of Artists*** Member Portrait Society of America**** Like most I began drawing at an early age. Some of my earliest childhood memories are of time spent drawing people, places and things that interested a young boy. It was a great escape during times I was ill and confined to bed or the house as there was no internet and only 4 channels on tv to watch growing up in the '60s . There were no museums nearby, just a library and the only chance I had to see paintings were in books and the family bible which as I recall held magnificent works by Carl Heinrich Bloch. That stoked my interest in painting along with a coffee table book of Norman Rockwell illustrations....
