Welcome

I would like to welcome everyone to my website. I just wanted to take a moment to thank everyone that has taken time out of their day to view my work and I hope it has brought some measure of enjoyment to all. I posted one of my older works today, a still life titled 'Violin and Rose'. Yeah, bet no one has ever painted that subject before! The main reason for posting it was for me, it was a beginning or a rebirth if you will, of my art. I was 40 years old when I completed that work and still at my regular fulltime job. I recall the curiosity and a bit of trepidation wondering if I could still produce any art worth looking at or if I would get frustrated and trash the whole thing. Music was very big in my life at that time. When I quit art at age 16 my creative energies and fire were channeled into music, mostly as a guitarist. Later I learned to play piano and basically any fretted musical instrument but the violin was one that frustrated my attempts to master it. That probably was the main reason for painting this piece along with a challenge from a co worker that enjoyed and produced her own artwork. I knew very little about painting in oils and what little I could dig up was in old books I still had from years ago. However, once I experienced the freedom of mixing and blending the oils on canvas I was hooked. For me oils are patient. I had time to work the paint and not be in a hurry to get it over with as I had been when I was younger. I know other mediums can produce unbelievable work and I am always in awe of masters of acrylic and watercolor just to name a couple. But for me, oils suit my personality. I was in a rush my whole life until I was able to retire from my day job. Now I just want to sit back, relax and watch paint dry.....!
Hope you have a great, relaxed and peaceful day.
