Glenn Beasley Best In Show ALA Art Show 2015

Sherwood artist Glenn Beasley doubled up on the awards last Friday evening at the annual ALA Art Show held at Cantrell Gallery in west Little Rock. Beasley was the recipient of 1st place in the portrait/figure category for his painting "Hide & Seek" and also received the award for Best in Show with the work "Good Harvest" an 18 x 24 oil on linen depiction of a kneeling lady with a large straw hat working her garden under a noon day sun. The painting previously has been juried into last years 56th Delta exhibit at the Arkansas Arts Center and was featured in a article in the magazine "Eye on Fine Art" in March 2014. Both his works will be on display at Cantrell Gallery through the end of the exhibit on October 31.

Beasley Awarded 1st Place ALA Art Show

Artist Glenn Beasley was awarded 1st place in the portrait/figure category of the annual ALA Art Show of 2015 held last Friday at Cantrell Gallery in Little Rock, Arkansas. The winning piece was a 30 x 40 oil on canvas titled "Hide and Seek" which shows two young girls playing the timeless children's game huddled around an old oak tree. Beasley, who is know for his stunning portrait work also specializes in childhood scenes for many of his original compositions. The painting also won 1st place in the ALA Spring Show in 2014 and is one of his best loved works. It is currently on display at Cantrell Gallery for the remainder of the show scheduled to end October 31.

Beasleys Painting Continues Masterworks Museum Tour

Glenn Beasley's classical painting "First Light" began the 2nd leg of the highly successful and critically acclaimed "Masterworks Tour" sponsored by the International Guild of Realism. The exhibition consists of 70 artworks by 65 artists from around the globe selected by a jury-of-peers shaped by input from the project's tour director David Wagner. The Guild features works by some of the best artists practicing all forms and styles of realism today. The first stop of the tour was the R.W. Norton Museum and Gallery in Shreveport, LA which recently concluded on July 26. The tour continues with the next exhibit at the prestigious Appleton Museum of Art in Ocala Florida from Sept 5th through Nov 1. The Masterworks Tour was recently featured in the July edition of On View magazine. The third leg of the tour will travel to Albany Museum of Art in Albany Georgia from Feb 6th through June 11th. All exhibits are open to the public.

Beasley Juried Into ALA Art Show For 2015

Glenn Beasley is among the 36 artists selected by juror Carole Katchen for the 2015 ALA Art Show being held this year at Cantrell Gallery in West Little Rock. Beasley, was among 9 of the 36 artists selected to have two works on display at the exhibit. Both are oil paintings with the largest a 30 x 40 work titled "Hide & Seek" which won first place in the ALA Spring Show Figure category in 2014. The second work is "Good Harvest", a 20 x 24 oil on linen selected for the Delta exhibit last year and featured in the March 2014 edition of "Eye on Fine Art" Magazine . The event begins Friday, Sept 11th with the awards ceremony from 5:30pm to 6:00pm followed by the opening reception from 6 to 8:00pm. The exhibit and event is open to the public and will run from Sept 11th through October 31st. Cantrell Gallery is open M-Sat from 10 am to 5 pm and is located at 8206 Cantrell Rd in west Little Rock. Glenn Beasleys Art At The 56th Delta Exhibition

Award winning artist Glenn Beasley's work "Good Harvest" is part of the prestigious 56th annual Delta Exhibition in Little Rock Arkansas and will be on display through September 28th along with other works from a five state regional competition. Glenn was one of 35 artists whose works were selected by juror Brian Rutenberg, a native of South Carolina who is an artist in New York. The exhibition is located at the Arkansas Arts Center in downtown Little Rock and admission is free to the public.

Artist Glenn Beasley Solo Exhibit

The Saint James United Methodist Church in west Little Rock is hosting a solo art exhibit of 18 works by award winning artist Glenn Beasley. Included in the display is the drawing "Mrs Crye" which will be featured in the upcoming book "Art Journey: People" by North Light Books schedule for release later this year. Also available for viewing is Glenn's latest work "Anticipation" which is shown in the accompanying thumbnail of this release. The exhibit is a cross section of Glenn's work including portraiture, landscapes, floral and original compositions. The church is located at 321 Pleasant Valley Drive off of I-430 in west Little Rock. The exhibit is open to the public and most works are for sale. Glenn Beasley 1st Place Award ALA Spring Show Portrait Category

Glenn Beasley's painting "Hide & Seek" was awarded 1st place in the Arkansas League of Artists Spring Show in the Portrait/Figure category earlier this month. The work is on display at the Cox Creative Center in downtown Little Rock, Arkansas until the end of May along with over 50 other works of the ALA members. The Cox Center is located at 120 River Market Drive and is open from 9am to 5pm M-Sat and 1 to 5pm on Sunday.

Good Harvest Released By Glenn Beasley

Artist Glenn Beasley has just released this new work titled "Good Harvest" which will soon be on display locally in the Little Rock area. This is an 18 x 24 oil on linen depicting a hard working lady harvesting her crop under a broiling noonday sun in the late 1930s. Glenn said " For me, the straw hat steals the scene and communicates that it was very hot that day. This is the only figure I have painted where you do not see the face. Instead the dirt stains on her apron and the weathered look of her hands indicate this lady works hard at what she does. Not a farmer as a hobby but by necessity, the backbone of rural America in the recent past." Glenn plans to include other similar works that reflect rural farm life in the 30s & 40s from a simpler time depicting family and work life from this period.

Glenn Beasleys Latest Work First Light Released

First Light is an original oil on panel conceived and painted by artist Glenn Beasley. The scene depicts a young girl’s first curious attempt at reading the family bible by candlelight. While the work was inspired by the chiaroscuro of many of the old masters such as Caravaggio, Georges De La Tour and Joseph Wright of Derby, Glenn points out that this scene can be of any time period you wish it to be. “It could just as easily be during a power outage possibly in winter, and the batteries have finally run down on all the modern distractions children are so accustomed to. So she turns to this book out of curiosity to see why everyone talks about it so much.” Glenn’s first inspiration to do this piece came during a visit to the Arkansas Arts Center’s Kenwood Exhibit in the fall of 2013. “I was viewing all the wonderful works including the Rembrandt, Hals and others when a piece caught my eye from across the room and literally dragged me into the scene.
